#3 CWC: First Meeting

Creative Writing Club #3   Topic: Service  Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a fieldwork experience  We finally had our first club meeting! We had three new members show up and everything went smoothly except for some early departures. We started off our meeting by going straight into the lesson. It worked well as a segue into our prompt because it was specifically about how to approach a prompt. We spent the next 15 minutes writing about our first writing prompt: "It was the first snowfall of the year." I personally wanted my entry to have a melancholic feeling but I channeled too much negativity ended up writing a complaint letter about snow. Everyone shared what they had worked on which was mostly about how romantic and beautiful snow is. I realized that most of us only really had about a paragraph of writing. #2 CWC: Hurricane Laura False Alarm

 Creative Writing Club #2  Topic: Service  Learning Outcome 5: Working Collaboratively  After all the excitement and anticipation for our first club meeting, it was cancelled on the first week of school due to the Hurricane Laura warnings which hit a lot farther from us than expected. Although I was really disappointed, it gave me more time with my co-leaders to prepare. Yesterday, we had a pre-club meeting to discuss how we would time each activity and practice presenting our first prompt and lesson to the members. While working on our first presentation and spent about an hour trying to perfect it. There are still some things that I think could be improved upon, but since I'm working with others it's important to consider and respect their ideas.  Having setbacks and changes in plans is a normal part of life and I'm glad I had this reminder to be able to work on being flexible and adaptable.
