Digital Art Time #1
Topic: Creativity
Learning Outcome 1: Identify areas of strength and develop areas for growth
Around December I started experimenting with Autodesk Sketchbook. I didn't want to start too many things all at once, so I tried sketching a few things in the same file. I ended up with a colored sketch of a hand. I only used my own hand as a reference with just the normal lighting in my room. I began with a pencil sketch to get the proportions right. I didn't really know my way around the brush/pen/texture menu so I tried out a few and chose one to block out the different colors. Then I picked a pen texture to try out for more defined shapes.
This was over the course of two days. It isn't much for such a small, incomplete sketch, especially since the initial sketch wasn’t very thorough, but it took a while to get used to the new tools. Since I only really drew with pencil, paper, and occasionally colored pencils, I didn't really have much of a range with physical drawing. So having access to all these unfamiliar tools is sort of a overwhelming since I don’t really know what to do with them but it's also a good opportunity to be able to experiment without all the problems that come with art materials.
